REUNION UPDATES!

TAVERN AT ST CLAIR MARCH 2013
Greetings to all and happy spring!

Just to let you know that the gang has had a productive go since the start of the new year!  We met for dinner at The Tavern at St Clair in March. It was a small group of about 20 classmates who wanted to have dinner together. We missed those who were unable to make it, but we understand that some things came up at the last minute!

While we were at the dinner, we talked a little bit about generating ideas for the next reunion. We all agreed that due to busy schedules, the original date for May did not leave enough time for planning, and we looked

to the future for a summer event. We tossed up ideas for a camping retreat vs a dinner. In addition, Ginny's husband Stephan, photographed us in the panoramic picture above to send to Alan Pitts, who is stationed overseas with the US military.

The week following the dinner, we opened the "floor" for nominations for a reunion planning committee via facebook and email. Those nominated were Connie Gable McGehee, Ginny Stanley Bass, Marvin Orr, Misty Lawson Hickey, Cheryl Causey Busenlehner, Kiundra Truss and Miranda Bryant. Nominations closed the following Friday at noon, and only Connie is not part of the committee, as she graciously bowed out of the running.

The Committee planned a conference call, which was held on April 14 at 6m. Marvin, Ginny, Cheryl and Miranda were in attendance. If you would like to help be a driving force behind the work that will need to be done, please contact one of your committee members. See the contact numbers on the Members page.

During the conference call, the Committee discussed the following:

1.  Venues to hold the reunion. Talladega Creek had been offered up as an option, but upon further review, did not have the facility needed to meet the requirements of the large crowd. On the table currently are the Pell City Civic Center and a back-yard barbecue. Ginny is to call the Civic Center, and Marvin is to check on the back-yard location.

2. T-shirts to commemorate the reunion and celebrate 20 years of history together. Once available, we will have these shirts to show our solidarity to the community and the states we represent. Cheryl is going to spear-head the design process and find a place to order the shirts. The Committee decided on a polo style shirt that can be worn anywhere as opposed to a T shirt that is more casual. Cost is a factor, and Cheryl has had experience with companies in the past, so we feel confident she can get us a good group rate.

3. Possibility of a basket-ball tournament.  Marvin discussed getting teams of classmates together for basketball. The idea here is that our class will compete against teams from other LHS classes. Please contact Marvin if you are interested in a tournament.

4. A memory book. Miranda will put together a memory book via an online photo-shop service to show as a way to hold dear memories of the Class of 1993. Many classmembers have lost their memorabilia to house fire or moves over the last 20 years. Year books are no longer available.
Please email Miranda at mibb1975@gmail.com  to help collect a variety of view-points for the memory book. **The class right now is currently in need of a class photographer. Please be mindful and prayerful of your talent and consider sharing your talent with us to help us record our new memories.
Memory books will be available to order at-cost at the reunion. Please email pictures and memories to Miranda at mibb1975@gmailcom.

The Committee set up a new conference call time scheduled in two weeks to discuss progress.
